LOVE Food has run regular monthly community lunch clubs in Ide Village Hall and St Thomas Parish and Methodist Church Halls for the past two and a half years. These are currently on hold but we hope to start up our lunch clubs again in 2024.

We served a two or three-course meal focusing on seasonal fruit and vegetables and wholefoods, made from surplus produce donated by Exeter Food Action and Shillingford Organics. All the food we make is vegan and we try to use as much local and organic produce as we can.

We made delicious meals from ingredients that would have gone to waste. Our menu changed every month but previous dishes included: courgette, pea and mint soup; roasted broccoli and squash salad; beetroot dip; and damson frangipane tart. If you can’t make it to the lunch club you can order a takeaway in advance, or buy some leftovers.

Our lunch clubs are run on a pay what you can basis. Our suggested donation for those who can afford it is £5-10 for the whole meal. This income helps us cover our costs including ingredients, rent, insurance, publicity, etc. and subsidises the meal for others. Our lunch clubs are run by a team of volunteers and we are always looking for extra volunteers to help out.
